On Sunday, November 2, during the fellowship hour, Ms. Margarita Hakobyan, Country Director of OXFAM (GB) International Organization in Armenia, presented a very informative PowerPoint presentation and video about the current living and working conditions in rural Armenia. OXFAM has been helping Armenians in poverty-stricken areas for 20 years. Ms. Hakobyan highlighted new initiatives for the employment of women farmers and the building of greenhouses. As men are increasingly forced to move to cities to find work, the burden on women has further increased, with one-third now the head of the household. Empowering women with employment opportunities can improve the livelihoods of many families. For more information about OXFAM in Armenia click here.
